Sad...

Sat Nov 14, 2009, 3:30 PM
I lost one of my mechanical pencils the other day (the one I always use). It's a sad day, peoples. A sad, sad day... :(

(EDIT: Found my mechanical pencil buried on my desk at work. Joy!)

I have been living in Melbourne, Australia since January 2009 and I have travelled and moved a fair bit over the last 10 years. I was born and raised in Tamworth Australia then moved to Sydney to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree where I spent far too much money doing photography (before the days of affordable digital SLRs) and not enough time developing the skills I had as a drawer.

From there I found myself living in Newcastle, Australia (after a 10 month layover in my old hometown) where I completed my education qualifications, became a qualified Visual Arts teacher, and began teaching.

After that I moved a number of times between Newcastle and Tamworth before jetting off to merry old England at the beginning of 2007 where I lived and worked for a year. While there it became abundantly clear that I really did want to do something professional with my art whereas before I had always just looked at it as something I was kinda good at.

When I returned to Australia at the beginning of 2008 I taught Visual Arts and Photo Digital Media at a high school in country New South Wales and then made the move to Melbourne once that contract was up.

I used to own an Apple G4 iBook but it died 2 and a half years after I bought it (and was still paying off) and they (Apple) wanted to charge me the cost of a brand new Macbook to fix it. I went without my own computer for over a year until I got back to Australia and bought a desktop PC. I would like to (one day) buy another Mac but for the moment I'll make do with my nice PC that I know I can fix and replace parts of if something goes horribly wrong. Along with the computer I also bought a 9X12" Wacom tablet so I could begin to really delve into the realm of digital art and drawing. So far I have not done an awful lot due to time constraints and a lack of deep knowledge and understanding of the progams used.

I am heading back to school to do a 3D animation & games design course in 2010 to learn about these things.

My goal is that by the time I finish this course at the end of 2011 I will have the skills necessary to be kicking butt in the games and/or animation industry.

No probs, mate! Your digital painting skills are awesome and you can't go wrong with kick ass giant mecha. =P I've only just gotten into doing mech (and slowly building my skills up) and hopefully I'll be turning them 3D and animated next year. :D
